No post this week because all my writing time went towards redesigning this site. I didn’t expect it to take so long, but as anyone who launches a site knows… shit happens. Speaking of which, there are still some minor bugs, that I’m aware of, left for me to squash. If you encounter any of your own while perusing my site, please let me know and I’ll squish ’em.
I’d like to point out one aspect of the new look before I wrap up. The biggest change and probably the first thing you’ll notice is the new logo (along with the
pretty MANLY! new colors of course). The logo is the infamous Dick-in-a-Box (real name Richard, by the way). I’ve wanted to use him as the site’s logo, instead of that other character that looked like me, for a while now. But it took a lot longer to get the design down than I hoped.
You can read more about Richard, why he’s so angry and why he’s stuck in that box, over here. The short of it though, is that Richard represents men (and women) who freak out when people talk about, do things and act in ways that aren’t “normal” in their view of traditional gender roles. Richard (and others like him) have very strict ideas about what it means to be a man, so everything I write has the potential to piss them off. When I make Richard mad, he starts flexing, yelling and cussing. Then he rips his shirt off and breaks things. It’s all very predictable and frankly kind of hilarious, so I decided to make him my mascot (yes, I made up a whole backstory for a cartoonish logo… don’t judge).
I hope you’ll agree with me that the new look was worth the time and effort (I’d love to hear your feedback either way). Until next week then.
