Manly Ads of 2012

2012 is in the books. And with it ends another year chock full of ads that were at times annoying, funny, crazy, absurd, stupid, entertaining, offensive or just about any additional adjective you can think of. And so, in what has become an annual tradition, it’s time to unveil another manly ads compilation (look for past compilations on my YouTube Channel).

I’ve curated these ads throughout the year on one of my Pinterest boards and you’ll find brief comments on each ad there (plus the ads that didn’t make the cut). Looking at the group that did make the cut, you’ll likely notice three major themes; the first has to do with male violence, the second revolves around sex/interactions with women and rounding it off is manliness/toughness. Oh, and I threw in a bonus ad, one that seems to finally acknowledge that men can be more than just violent, sex obsessed tough guys. It’s something different than what we’ve become accustomed to from advertisers and I for one am pleased to see it.

There’s much left to be said about the Manly Ads 2012 compilation but first, I’d love for you to have a look then leave your comments and replies below. Let the discussion begin:

Duane, the site looks great, man. Thanks for helping people dissect some of the things that they see every day but don’t recognize.

Thank you Wendy, I appreciate the support and words of encouragement! Please feel free to share with friends and colleagues. Also, my goal is to make the video useful for educators, so if you use it at all and/or have feedback on how to make it more useful for training purposes please let me know.
